So this was a fun project i did on Punjabi Phulkari embroidory. As my college took us to Punjab which is a state in the north west of India, i got inspired to learn this technique of hand embroidory which is practiced by the women of Punjab.

The techinque is a basic darning stitch using silk floss in bright colours.

I used a Phulkari Dupatta/stole to design a dress which i made sure was not exactly traditional indian wear.

I wanted it to be fun and different or "western wear".

The  challange in this project was to use the dupatta in a way that the major essence of the craft doesn't die and yet its a unique design.
